About me
After obtaining a 2:1 degree in Law from Nottingham Trent University, Amanda attended the College of Law in Guildford where she completed the Legal Practice Course with commendation. Amanda subsequently undertook a training contract at Henmans Solicitors in Oxford and qualified in 2004. She returned to Birmingham, her home city, and joined Mills & Reeve LLP in September 2004 as a Solicitor in the Professional Indemnity team, being promoted to Senior Solicitor in September 2008. Amanda’s work includes defending high value and complex solicitors’ negligence claims across a variety of practice areas, such as probate, matrimonial, personal injury and conveyancing. She also advises on claims made against other professionals, including insurance brokers, surveyors and managing agents.

Amanda has been heavily involved with Birmingham Future since becoming a member in September 2004. She chaired the Membership Committee between November 2005 to July 2008 during which time Birmingham Future membership increased from approximately 400 to 550. Amanda was also a member of the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year committee for the 2008 awards. She was elected Deputy Chair of Birmingham Future in July 2008 and took over as Chair in July 2009. Amanda's key themes for the year are diversity and education & skills.

What am I looking for from BYPY candidates?

They will not only excel in their chosen field but also demonstrate a clear commitment to Birmingham and the wider community.

Why I enjoy working in Birmingham
The high quality of work available, the integration and support between different sectors across the city, and the huge variety of venues offering the chance to wind down after a day's work.

Thoughts of BYPY 10 years on
Having been a member of the BYPY committee for the 2008 awards, I appreciate the amount of sheer hard work that goes into organising this event. All stops are going to be pulled out for the 10th anniversary - and rightly so! There is an amazing amount of talent in our city which should be celebrated and nurtured. After all, these people are the future leaders of our city.
