About Me:
Bernard comes from Rhyl in North Wales. He arrived in Birmingham in 1968, qualifying as a solicitor in 1971. He joined Stephen Gateley and sons in 1971 as a partner, merging with Bernard Wareing and Partners in 1974 to become Gateley Wareing and Co.

Bernard set up his own practice as Shepherds Solicitors in 1983 and continued the firm until rejoining HBJ Gateley Wareing in 2007 as a consultant.
He has been involved in and supporting the City of Birmingham since his arrival in 1968. His interests include/have included Round Table, 41 Club, Rotary, Variety Club, the Birmingham Law Society, the Civic Society to name a few.

Bernard is past president of Birmingham Law Society, the Variety Club and Walsall Law Association and the current president of the West Midlands Law Societies. He has held other offices.

Bernard is married with two sons, one a solicitor and the other in wealth investment.

What am I looking for from BYPY candidates:
I will be looking for a person with a common sense approach linked with academic excellence. That person will have to demonstrate an ability to plan ahead in the chosen field but most of all have an awareness of economics and what is happening in the world.
