As a newcomer to the BYPY committee it’s been great to see the set up and the logistics of the event from an uninfluenced perspective. One of the things that I kept hearing about from committee members was the desire to make sure that going into the eleventh year of the awards there was a WOW factor to the evening and that it wasn’t a case of same old same old. Something fresh, something different! Having worked on events of numerous formats for several years now I was quite keen to get involved in the technical side of the evening.
The challenge was set, but of course in the current economic climate there was a catch… save some cash! The research commenced, meetings took place, ideas were exchanged and investigated, the answer was found - go big, go digital! A 38’x12’ screen using state of the art video control equipment will give our digital media supplier, Full Range, the chance to use up to four layers of video, PowerPoint and live camera feeds to give the awards a fresh and dynamic feel. The next step is a planning meeting with Full Range and the ICC to figure out how we make the best use of the set up on the night and ensure that BYPY 2011 is most certainly a night to remember.
