BYPY reveals new-look committee

Organisers of the city’s must-attend business award ceremony, Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY), have recruited a hat-trick of committee members to step it up a level for 2012.

Mike Colledge of Big Cat, Sookie Shuen of Tomorrow People and Clare Usher of the NEC Group have all joined the BYPY committee.

Stepping up to the role of committee chair is Rebecca Mawdsley, operations director at eNL Legal. Rebecca succeeds Bina Ganatra and will be supported by deputy chair Ian Cooke of ACCA UK.

They will work alongside experienced committee members Elizabeth Laidler of Encore Communications, Claudia Santillo of Santillo Consulting, Claire Burrows of Cobbetts, James Knott of Catalyst Corporate Finance and Samantha Dowling of Rewired PR - with everyone giving their time free of charge to organise the showpiece event.

Excited at the prospect of leading the new BYPY committee in its twelfth year, Rebecca said: "I'm very proud to be part of BYPY - it's a fantastic celebration of the great talent the West Midlands has to offer, shining the spotlight on our next generation of city leaders.

"Year on year its reputation grows and, together with a very talented and dedicated team, I look forward to continuing that development. I have every intention to make the event bigger and better than ever before, with new ideas already being progressed!"

This year’s awards saw Property & Construction Category finalist, Hillary Allen of Davis Langdon, take the title of overall Birmingham Young Professional of the Year.

With the 2011 event attracting record entry nominations, as well as record attendees, BYPY, which is run by young professionals' organisation, Birmingham Future, is not one to be missed in 2012. The event will take place at the ICC on Thursday 17 May.
